Alcoa (NYSE: AA) appointed Audrey Strauss Chief Compliance Officer, Chief Legal Officer and Corporate Secretary. Strauss will officially assume her new duties May 1. She succeeds Kurt Waldo whose retirement goes into effect August 1. Strauss comes to the aluminum manufacturer from the law firm Fried Frank Harris Shriver and Jacobson, where she is currently a senior Litigation Partner. Fun fact: Prior to Fried Frank, Strauss worked for the US Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York where she served as Chief Appellate Attorney and Chief of the Fraud Unit.
This experience will come in handy for Strauss as Alcoa is in the midst of an unusual civil-racketeering lawsuit. Plus the DoJ is snooping around for possible FCPA violations
